Richard T. "Rick" Ludwig, 47, of 86 Central Street, Northfield, Vt., formerly of Mohawk, passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side after a courageous battle with cancer on Jan. 21, 2006, at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, N.H. Rick was born Aug. 27, 1958 , in Ilion, son of Richard L. and Doris Ludwig. He was a graduate of Mohawk High School and MVCC. On Sept. 11, 1999, he was united in marriage to Amy Thurston in Northfield, Vt. Rick was employed at the Vermont Food Bank as a chef instructor. He will be remembered for his love of fly fishing, fishing streams in New York and Vermont. Rick also had a great love of music. Survivors include his parents, Richard L. and Doris Ludwig of Mohawk; his wife, Amy J. Ludwig of Northfield, Vt.; one daughter, Shannon Ludwig of Northfield; two sons, Joshua Ludwig of Hardwick, Vt., and Cameron Ludwig of Northfield; one sister, Deborah Roe and her husband Frank of Mohawk; his nephews, Keith Martin of Rochester, Frank Jr. and Francis Roe of Mohawk; one aunt, Lynn Pelish and cousins, Deborah Currier, Ericka Sundstom and their families, all of Connecticut. A memorial service will be held for Rick at the United Church of Northfield in Northfield, Vt., on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006. A local memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006 , commencing at 2 p.m. at the Mohawk Reformed Church with the Rev. Brian Engel, pastor, officiating.
