MOHAWK-ILION – Richard M. Kane, age 81, formerly of Prindle Apts., Ilion and Shoemaker Hill Rd., Mohawk, passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at the Alpine Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Little Falls, NY.

He was born on April 21, 1940, the son of Mitchell and Ellen (Burdick) Kane and was a High School Graduate. Richard was employed as a Radio Broadcast Engineer, beginning at WALY, locally, in Herkimer and then continued at various AM and FM radio stations throughout the Northeast. He attended Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk and later, Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort. Richard was a member of the Society of Broadcast Engineers, Chapter 22 and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Surviving family members include his nieces, nephews and cousins; other relatives; long-time friends from the broadcast community, including David Krause, Chet Bottorff, and Mark Fuller; and other friends, including Frank Reave and Michael Beeman.

Richard also wanted to thank the managers and staff at Alpine in Little Falls for the excellent care during his nearly two-year stay at the facility.

A Celebration of Richard’s Life and Committal Service will be held 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at St. Joseph the Worker Cemetery, 305 W. Main St., West Winfield, NY.
