Richard G. Hyer, 70, of the Town of Schuyler, and formerly of Mohawk, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, March 19, 2013, in Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center , with his loving family by his side, following a brief illness.

He was born on March 8, 1943, in Ilion, the son of the late Stanley and Helen Knapp Hyer and graduated from Mohawk High School. On August 31, 1963, Richard married the former Antoinette Talarico in St. Anthony's Church, Herkimer.

Richard, along with his wife, owned and operated Antiques and Such which was located on Bleeker Street in Utica. For most of his career, He was a machinist at the former Chicago Pneumatic, Utica. Recently, Richard was attending Trinity Lutheran Church, Herkimer. He was a member of the Machinist Union, Utica. Richard enjoyed attending antique auctions and watching sports especially the New York Yankees. His greatest pleasure came from spending time with his grandchildren.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of almost fifty years, Antoinette; his daughter , Elizabeth Hyer and her fiance´e, Raymond Savarese II; his son, Robert Hyer of Rome; his sister, Susan Hyer of Mohawk; his sister-in-law, Janet Hyer of Mohawk; his grandchildren, Robert Hyer, Patricia Hyer, Richard Savarese and Raymond Savarese III, several nieces and nephews and many special friends and extended family including his two canine companions, Ollie and Daisy. He was predeceased by his brother, Arnold Hyer.

Richard's funeral will be held 5 p.m., Saturday, March 23, 2013, in the chapel of the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Ilion, Town of Frankfort, with the Rev. Ann Zimmerman, Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Herkimer, officiating.

Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, March 23, 2013, from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
