Richard K. Burton

ILION - Richard Keith Burton, 64, of Ilion, New York, passed away unexpectedly on May 31st, 2025.

Richard was born April 7th, 1961, in Ilion, NY, the son of Norma Burton-Forbes. Richard attended Frankfort-Schuyler Central School. Richard spent many years working at NEP Glass as a glazer.

Richard was previously married to Lori Johnson-Burton of Salisbury, NY who he shared three boys with.
Richard especially loved spending time with his three boys and parents. He enjoyed mowing his lawn, joy rides on his scooter and chatting with all his neighbors, fishing, going to the movies, playing poker and listening to music - especially Pink Floyd. He also enjoyed making trips to the casino to play BINGO and Let It Ride.

His boys fondly remember his unique way of him greeting them when they walked in the door. Trying to put a smile on everyone’s face, having a very blunt sense of humor, and being a loving father are just a few things that were special about him.

Remaining to cherish Richard’s memory are children, Adam Burton (Becca Swart) of Little Falls, NY, Matthew Burton (Alysa Salanco) of Dolgeville, NY, and Austin (Ashley) Burton of Little Falls, NY; parents, Norma and Bob Forbes of Ilion, NY; special aunt, Shirley Hartley of Ilion, NY; brothers, Joseph Mroz (Gary Winters) of Alder Creek, NY, Joe (Colleen) Jennett, and Chuck Jennett; sisters, Sherri Mroz of Herkimer, NY, Michele (Phil) Foster of Frankfort, NY, Denise Jennett, and Susan Jennett Lowery; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceding Richard in death are girlfriend, Joanne Scofield; brothers, John Jennett, Albert Jennett III; nephew, Nick Mroz; along with many grandparents, aunts and uncles.

To honor Richard’s wishes, there will be a private burial service with the family. A celebration of life will be held on June 14th at the Marine Corps League in Ilion, NY at 1:00 pm for all to attend.
