HERKIMER - Mr. Rendall G. Perkett "Gary" age 63, of Harter Street, Herkimer, passed away on a journey to be home with the Lord on Sunday morning, August 12, 2012 following a brief illness. His passing was in the presence of cherished friends and loved ones.



Born May 25, 1949 in Ilion, Gary was the son of the late Mary Martin Forte and Ellery Perkett. He attended Ilion High school and later earned a military degree. He served his beloved country in the United States Marines during the Vietnam Conflict from 1969 until 1973. Throughout the years Gary had worked as a bartender in various establishments in the Utica area. He also was a talented chef locally as well as an awesome guitar player in local bands. He was a member of the Ilion American Legion, as well as the Frankfort/Ilion VFW Post 502 and the Ilion Marine Corps League. He was a dedicated veteran of the United States Military. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Rodney, Rannaford, and Richard, sisters Gloria, Diane and Bertha Ellen; a son Robert Grower (2012), and grandchildren Prestyn and Tyler Robinson.



He is survived by his children: Jodi and Nicholas Perkett of Syracuse; Kelli Perkett and husband Shawn of Ilion; Kerri Perkett of Charleston, WV; Gary Perkett and wife Christy of Little Falls; Rendall Perkett, II and wife Crystal of Frankfort, three step children: Melissa Souvannason and husband Sam of Nelliston, NY; Fred Kilmartin and wife Karen of Whitesboro; and Chris Kilmartin and wife Maggie of Yorkville, NY; sisters: Betty DuBay of Michigan; Dawn Broadbent of Dolgeville, NY; and Darlene Barrett of Richfield Springs, NY; brothers: Ruben Perkett of Schenectady, NY and Robert Perkett of Florida. He was also a loving and devoted grandfather of several grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and leaves many nieces nephews and cousins.



The family extends their gratitude to his best friends Rob Wildey and Floyd Bennett who were with him every day until the end. Also a special thanks to Hospice for their hospitality.



His funeral will be held on Wednesday August 15, 2012 at 2:00 PM from The Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street, Herkimer. Deacon Joseph DeLorenzo will officiate. Calling hours will precede the funeral service from 1 o'clock until the time of the service. Interment to follow in Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion. Full military rites will be accorded. Funeral Director Kevin E. Enea (866-1011). Veterans groups are welcome to attend the calling hours at their convenience.
