Rebecca "Becky" L. Samsel

ILION – Rebecca “Becky” L. Samsel, age 55, of Prindle Apts., Ilion, passed away unexpectedly, on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at home, of natural causes.

She was born on May 12, 1963, in Utica , the daughter of Egbert “Dutch” Ray and Maryann (Casale) Ray.  Becky graduated from Mohawk High School and BOCES Nursing Program and received her LPN.  At one time, she was married to Thomas Samsel, of little Falls.  She was employed at Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion , for over 15 years as an LPN.  Most recently, she was an LPN at Folts Home, in Herkimer.  Becky attended Mohawk Reformed Church.

Surviving family members include her sons, Robert Samsel and his wife, Samantha, and Justin Samsel; her sister, Nancy Watkins; her brother, Steven Murphy; one nephew, Eric Watkins; several aunts; uncles; cousins; and a special friend, Sherry Baker.

She was predeceased by her mother, Maryann Ray; her father, “Dutch” Ray; her stepmom, Dorothy (Ray) Murphy; and her brother, Bob Ray.

Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family, at Mohawk Cemetery .  In keeping with Becky’s wishes, there are no scheduled calling hours or public services.
