ILION - Raymond C. Farber, Jr., passed away, November 22, 2023, unexpectedly, at home, in Ilion, NY.
Ray was born January 4, 1938, in Herkimer, NY, son of the late Raymond Farber, Sr. and Mildred (Evans) Farber. His marriage to the former Kathryn (Kay) Davies took place September 17, 2001, in Las Vegas. They have shared a special loving marriage for 22 years. Ray will always be remembered as a kind and happy gentleman who was proud of all his accomplishments, but being proudest of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Sprite Club, where he served on the Board of Directors, a member of the Dolgeville Rod & Gun Club, the Moose Club, in Deland, Florida and the American Legion Post #31, in Little Falls.
He enjoyed spending winters in Florida, watching Nascar, visiting several casinos, antique cars and playing cards, but was happiest when surrounded by his loving family, friends and wonderful neighbors, especially Don and Virginia Knowles. Ray attended Dolgeville school and began his career as a dairy farmer on Hopson Rd., from 1958-1971. From 1972-1975, he was employed with Dolgeville Co-op, 1976-1977, he worked for Richard Obreza Trucking, 1977-1995, with Delwood Foods and 1996-2000, with Richard Obreza Trucking, retiring January 1, 2000.
Ray is survived by his wife, Kay; his daughters, Mary (Alan) Peck, of Caroga Lake, NY and Sharon (David) Selle, of California; his sons, David (Mary) Farber, of Montana and Karl (Buffy) Farber, of Oregon; his two stepchildren, Diana Kelsey, of Ilion and Dean (Beth) Kelsey, of Illinois; his sister, Rosilda Beadle, of Herkimer; his special niece, Pam Allen, of Herkimer; and a special nephew, Allan Beadle, of Ilion, NY; his eleven cherished and adored grandchildren, John and Joshua Peck, Michael and Karl Farber, Laura and Kayla Selle, Blake and Ryan Farber, Tyler and Jenna Krowicki and Elizabeth Kelsey; his four great-grandchildren, Avery, Jaxon, Caelyn and Corbyn; the mother of his children, Patricia Sharples Farber; and his in-laws, Scott (Christine) Davies and Charles Newell.
He was predeceased by his parents; his brother-in-law, Harry Beadle; his sister, Phyllis, at age 5; his in-laws, Harold and Dorothy Davies; and sister-in-law, Brenda Newell.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, November 30, 2023, from 10 a.m-12 p.m., at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion, NY, with Funeral Service and interment at Norwich Corners Cemetery, immediately following. Casual attire is acceptable.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Norwich Corners Cemetery Assoc. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
