UTICA - Ralph David Gigliotti, known affectionately as David, passed away on August 1, 2024, at the age of 73, in his hometown of Utica, New York. Born on August 17, 1950, also in Utica, he was a cherished son, brother, uncle and friend.
David led a life marked by kindness, empathy and a deep love for his family. He was renowned for his humor during family gatherings, often the first to line up for Christmas dinner and famously the only one to bring his own salt shaker. His passion extended to vintage auto equipment and music, interests that he enjoyed sharing with friends and family alike. David was also a devoted caretaker to his mother, Nancy Hrybiniak, until his passing, showcasing his compassion and dedication.
Professionally, David was skilled with electronics, having worked as an electrical technician at Par Tech and later at Anthony's Television and Appliance Repair. His hobbies included reading, listening to music and expanding his collection of vintage auto equipment.
David is survived by his loving mother and best friend, Nancy Hrybiniak; his sister, Paula Peppenelli and her husband, Tony; his niece, Gina Valasek and her husband, Steven; his nephew, Anthony Peppenelli; his great-nephews, Nicholas Carcone and his significant other, Madeline Comenale, and Michael Peppenelli.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Gigliotti; and his feline companion, Harley, who was a significant part of his life, also survives him.
David's educational journey began at Sunset Hughes and concluded at Utica Free Academy, laying a foundation for his technical skills and lifelong learning.
In keeping with his wishes, no funeral or memorial service will be held. Those who knew David are encouraged to honor his memory in personal reflections and acts of kindness.
