Philip R. Giacobbe, 66, of West River St., passed away on Tuesday evening, April 12, 2005. His passing occurred in Little Falls Hospital. He was born on May 8, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY a son of the late Anthony and Nellie (Malavasi) Giacobbe and was educated in Brooklyn schools. He was united in marriage with the former Jeanne Dulak on October 14, 1967 in New York City, mutually enjoying a union of 37 years. A proud United States Veteran, Phil served his country with the United States Navy then the Merchant Marines receiving an honorable discarge on Aug. 22, 1962. Phil loved America and upheld its long traditions of honor and caring. By profession, Phil was a coin collector. He was the owner and operator of the New York Rare Coin Shop located in Coram, NY, retiring at the age of 62. Not only was this job Phil's profession but it was also a favorite past time of his. He also enjoyed writing. In fact, some of his works have been published. As a family man, Phil was a good husband, dedicated father and devoted grandfather. Survivors include his caring and supporting wife; Jeanne of Ilion; his mother in law: Anna Dulak of Ilion; a son and daughter in law: Curt Giacobbe and wife Jeana of Herkimer; a daughter and son in law; Joanna Brazier and husband Bill of Fort Salonga, NY; a brother: Richard Giacobbe and wife Pat of Smithtown, Long Island; two sisters in law: Diane Pabes of Little Falls and Paula Dulak of Oregon; three cherished grandchildren: James, Matthew and Emma; a nephew and a niece; Keith and Jennifer Giacobbe; many cousins and special friends: Steve Pleznik, Pat and Tom Aluisa and Father Santiago Dineros. He was predeceased by a special uncle: John Giacobbe. The Giacobbe family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, Main St. between Ilion and Frankfort (894-8000) on Friday, April 15, 2005 from 4-7 p.m. Phil's funeral will commence at 7 p.m. on Friday evening, from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered by Deacon Jim Bowers of Annunciation Church, Ilion. Members of the United States Navy will perform military honors. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
