HERKIMER - Peter H. Bunn, 81, of Herkimer, NY, passed away peacefully, on August 11, 2024. He was a beloved father, grandfather, sibling and friend, whose presence will be profoundly missed.
Born on April 25, 1943, in Utica NY, Peter H. Bunn was known for his passion for his classic cars, his dogs and his love for his family. He was very talented and enjoyed working with his hands. Peter’s favorite way to spend his time was to either add on, maintain and improve his family’s home, or to restore and build his many old cars from the fifties and sixties, spending many of those years doing so with his lifelong friend, Dutch Comstock.
He loved to collect auto-mobilia, passing on his love of cars to both his sons, playing cards and spending time with special friends, Bob and Pam Leskovar. He also enjoyed traveling and he and Carol made many fond memories riding their bikes and visiting lighthouses.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Carol S. Bunn; his three children, Peter and his wife, Gayle (Farr) Bunn, Scott and his wife, Sara (Jones) Bunn and Mary (Bunn) and her husband, Christopher Shadders; his three grandchildren, Victoria Bunn, Emma Shadders and Russell Shadders; his sister, Suzanne Stevenson; his brother-in-law, James and his wife, Josephine Busch; and many lifelong best friends, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Harvey and Mary Bunn.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the many ladies who took such good care of Peter and allowed him to live the last of his days in the home he built, Lori Journov, Jessica Chandler, Jolene Vaughn and Jennifer Button.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Enea Family Funeral home, at 220 N. Washington Street, Herkimer, NY 13350, with a prayer service to follow at 4:00 p.m., in honor of his dedicated service as a United States Army Veteran. Military rites will be accorded at the service.
At 5:00 p.m., we welcome family and friends to join us in a Celebration of the Life of Peter H. Bunn, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, at 443 Henry Street, Herkimer, NY 13350.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Herkimer County Humane Society, 514 State Rte 5S, Mohawk, NY 13407.
