Patricia B. Truax

April 18, 1954 — March 2, 2024

SCHUYLER – Mrs. Patricia B. Truax, 69, of Utica, NY, passed away Saturday morning, March 2, 2024, after a brief battle with illness, at the Wynn Hospital, Utica, surrounded with love from her husband and daughters, always by her side.

She was born in Herkimer, New York, on April 18,1954, daughter to the late Francis and Doris (Kanaley) Barry. She attended and graduated from Herkimer High School. She furthered her education and went on to obtain an Associate’s Degree. She married the love of her life, Sheldon F. Truax, on July 31st, 1976. Together they built an amazing life and loving family. Patricia had a love and zest for life. She was constantly excited to travel and being with her family was foremost. You could find her cruising in the corvette or spending as much time as possible with her beloved grandbabies, James, and Emily. She was employed on the assembly line with Remington Arms. Patricia was an exemplary mother and human being. She embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, strength of spirit and an unending generosity that could be seen in her care for her husband, daughters and grandchildren. Our community was often enamored with her and Sheldon’s amazing Christmas and Halloween decorations that have continuously lit up their beautiful home through the years on the corner of Westgate Drive, demonstrating her wish of unwavering happiness to her family, friends and the children.

Patricia embodied the essence of a truly exceptional person and she selflessly gave without any expectation of reciprocation. She was a pillar of trust, safeguarding our secrets while sharing in our hopes and dreams. Her presence brought joy, making every moment spent with her a Celebration of Life. Her forgiving nature was a testament to her compassionate spirit. Our mom was the epitome of love. She literally has spent her entire life making sure we have had everything we ever needed.

Patricia was preceded in death by her father, Francis Barry; her mother, Doris Barry; and brother, Francis “Chip” Barry.

She is survived by her husband, Sheldon Truax; her daughters, Lisa Truax and Sara Egan and son-in-law, Joseph Egan along with their children James and Emily Egan. Also surviving are her sister, Elizabeth Wehrer and brother-in-law, Glenn; as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends.
