Nellie M. Martin

Nellie M. (Hunt) Martin, age 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday evening, October 25, 2026, at Wynn Hospital in Utica, NY.

Born in Damariscotta, Maine on December 1, 1952, Nellie was a lifelong healthcare provider who dedicated her life to the safety and wellbeing of those around her. She was a lover of raspberry Twisted Tea, White Pall Malls, tequila Jell-O shots, and long obituaries. Above all else, she loved her family and spending time surrounded by their love and laughter.

Nellie was preceded in death by her sister Ginger Thomas, her brothers Kenneth and Marion Spencer, her first husband, Lester Hunt, second husband, Walter Martin, and stepdaughter Kim Hunt. She is survived by her brothers Alan and Daniel Spencer (Doris), daughters Hope Thomes (Bill), Roberta Daunis (Rodney), Rebecca Hunt, stepsons Mark and Paul Hunt, and her grandchildren Robyn Perry (Davion), Dr. Robert Perry (Rachael), Jordan Schell (Fred), Alyssa Spencer, Cory Culver (Tristan), Holly McLean, Danielle Spencer, Erika Neff (Nick), Savannah, and Aubrey, as well as her many cherished great grandchildren. Nellie will be remembered fondly for her humorous nature, kind heart, and love of her family.

Her family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of the Wynn Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit, as well as her friends and caregivers at the Little Falls Hospital, for their support and dedication to Nellie’s care. Their kindness and graciousness provided great comfort to her family, knowing that she was always in the best hands.

Friends and family are invited to the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Ilion, NY on Friday, October 30th from 4:30pm - 6:00pm to pay their respects to Nellie and her family.
