NEWPORT - Nancy Casler Kochan, age 59, of Newport, NY passed away on the morning of February 10, 2015 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown. A special thank you is extended to the Bassett Medical Center Cancer team of Herkimer for their support and her sister Susan Casler for all she has done.
She was born on January 30, 1956 in Little Falls, a daughter of Shirley (Olmstead) Casler and the late Irving Casler. She attended and graduated from Little Falls High School. She also was a graduate of Herkimer County Community College as well as SUNY IT where she was the recipient of a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Her first husband, James Kochan, passed away in 1975. Nancy was a Life Skills Trainer for the developmentally disabled and worked with RCIL in Herkimer. She just loved to spend time outdoors near the water and swimming in our beautiful lakes and especially camping. She also loved to attend her children's sporting events through the years.
She is survived by her beloved family, her mother Shirley Casler, two sons, Jordan Thomas and Trevor Thomas and his wife Kristen and their daughter (Nancy's granddaughter), Harper Thomas, her three brothers and four sisters, her longtime companion, Paul Thomas, her friend Tom Jones, and many nieces and nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her father Irving, her first husband James and a son, Jimmy Kochan.
The family will hold memorial calling hours at The Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street in Little Falls, New York on Thursday February 12th, 2015 from 5 until 7 PM.
