Mr. Michael P. Aceto Sr, age 94 of Herkimer, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2026.

Born on September 30, 1931, in Utica, New York, Mike was the son of the late Peter Sr and Susie (Lavalla) Aceto. Raised and educated locally, he attended Thomas R. Proctor High School. On August 11, 1962 he married the love of his life, the late Donatella M. Angelicchio. Together, they nurtured a loving marriage for 63 wonderful years until her passing on December 8th, 2025.

Mike proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1952 to 1955 during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Corporal as an Automotive Mechanic. In recognition of his honorable military service he received the National Defense Service Metal, Korean Service Metal, and UN Service Metal.

Mike loved watching NY Yankees baseball, horse racing, and spending time in his garden which he meticulously tended to for many years. Mike could always be found in his garage working on lawnmowers, snow blowers or repairing household appliances. He worked over 25 years as a Machinist at Chicago Pneumatic until his retirement. Mike especially enjoyed family gatherings and summer barbecues. In his later years, he enjoyed spending his days doing jigsaw puzzles, word searches and watching classic westerns.

Mike is survived by his children: John (Susan), Marie Elaine, Michele, Michael (Lisa), Thomas (Beth), and Suzanne. He was the proud grandfather of ten grandchildren: Antonio Peter, Giovanni, Gabriel, Bianca, Olivia, Antonio Vito, Angelina, Santino, Isabella, and Dominick. He is also survived by his sisters; Nancy Mancuso, Yolanda DeCrescenzo, Antoinette Fiore and brother Peter Aceto Jr. Additionally, Mike leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife Donnie, his siblings and their spouses: Louisa (Joseph) Yozzo, John Aceto, Joseph Aceto, Connie (Charles) Tritten, Rita (Robert) Toncar, Anthony (Diane) Aceto and brother-in-law Frank DeCrescenzo.

Michael P. Aceto Sr will be forever remembered for his kind heart and generosity.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during calling hours on Monday, June 1, 2026, from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the funeral home on 220 North Washington Street in Herkimer.

Funeral services honoring his life will take place on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, starting at 10:15 AM at The Enea Family Funeral Home located at 220 North Washington Street, Herkimer, followed by an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Parish Church, corner of East Main & John Streets in Little Falls. Mike will be interred next to his beloved wife, Donnie at Calvary Cemetery in Herkimer.
