Maureen E. Murray, age 62, passed away peacefully on February 7th at the St. Johnsville Rehab & Nursing Center, where she has been a resident these past seven years. Her passing occurred after a prolonged battle with early onset Alzheimer's.
Born on August 26, 1963, Maureen is the daughter of Daniel Curtin and the late Phyllis (Timian) Curtin. She was raised in Ilion and educated at the Annunciation Catholic School. She graduated with the Ilion High School Class of 1981.
Maureen continued her education at Delhi, completing a degree in hotel and restaurant management. Hence, her career started with Arby's, followed by the Turning Stone Casino, Hotel Utica, Stanley Theater, and the food service department at Hamilton College, which she left due to her illness.
On March 13, 1993, Maureen was married to Martin W. Murray at the Church of the Annunciation in Ilion. Maureen and Marty would go on to spend decades of love, laughter and togetherness. When Maureen faced a difficult diagnosis twelve years ago, Marty vowed to never leave her side. His dedication and steadfastness to his beloved wife was an incredible testament to the love they shared.
Maureen, affectionately known as Renie, built friendships that lasted more than 55 years, which is a true testament to her loyalty and the trust she inspired in others. She formed many additional lifelong friendships during her college years and throughout her career. Maureen shared countless joyful moments with her friends, from girls' weekends and trips to concerts, especially those featuring Dave Matthews. Above all else, Maureen's greatest love was her family. Creating memories through annual family trips was woven into her DNA, a tradition rooted in the yearly trips her own parents took with their family.
Maureen is survived by her husband of thirty-three years, Martin Murray; her father, Daniel Curtin; her sons, Daniel Murray (Summar), William Murray, Benjamin Murray; her precious granddaughters, Eliza and Iris; her sisters, Colleen Curtain (Andy) and Sheila Yang (David); along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend calling hours for Maureen on Friday, MARCH 20, 2026, from 11:00am to 12:00pm at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000. Maureen's funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence at 12:00pm, at the funeral home, immediately upon the conclusion of calling hours.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at the St. Johnsville Rehab and Nursing Center for the exceptional care and kindness shown to Renie. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association to support research and care for those affected by this disease.
