Maureen C. Derocco

ILION – Mrs. Maureen C. DeRocco, 84, of Otsego Street, passed away peacefully, on April 5, 2024, at Little Falls Hospital.

She was born on March 25, 1940, in Sugar Notch, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late John and Beatrice (Harkins) Dougherty. Following her education, she worked at General Electric, in Utica, as a secretary. Through the years she had worked at MDS, Ilion Hospital and her favorite job with the Ilion School System, Dietary. Her cooking ability was extraordinary, inclusive to her baking and we will certainly miss her wonderful Thanksgiving dinners.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Michael; a son, Mark DeRocco, of Ilion; a daughter, Melissa (DeRocco) Zalocka and her husband, Ronald, of Ilion; a daughter, Michele (DeRocco) Smith and her husband, the late Terence, of Frankfort; a son, Michael J. DeRocco and his wife, Connie, of Reno, Nevada; her grandchildren, Ryan Smith, of Frankfort, Miranda (Zalocka) Edwards, of Ilion, Brady Zalocka of Ilion and Derek DeRocco, of Schuyler; and a great-grandchild, Maverick Edwards, of Ilion.
