ILION – Matthew M. Gushue, Sr., age 41, from Ilion, New York, born on July 10th, 1982, passed unexpectedly at his home, on August 17th, 2023.
Matthew was the proud son of Michael, Sr. and Patricia “Trish” Gushue and his dear brother Daniel. Matt attended Owen D. Young, Mohawk School and proudly graduated from Pine Grove Academy. Matt wore his heart on his sleeve. He was compassionate, respectful and always there if you needed him. He gave his own time to make sure he was there for anyone in need. He cared for many children. He had many children he loved. Nieces, nephews, cousins, his friends, who passed he stayed close to their children being a father to their broken hearts. He promised many what he would do and he did. He so loved his boys, Matt, Aiden and Josh. You were the breath in his lungs.
Matthew loved the outdoors and every season there was. He loved to go fishing, his meditation sport. He loved hunting, ice fishing, turkey hunting, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, walking through the woods, camping and bonfires. Everyone who knew Matthew, there is nothing more we can say that you already know about him. He had many friends.
Matt was employed at Crossway’s for years, in Ilion. He loved Rosie so much! Mama Rose he would say! What a baker you were and the compassion he had toward Jackie Legs. He loved you boy!
