HERKIMER – Mary Thomas, age 88, of Herkimer, passed away, on Friday, November 3, 2023.
She was born on September 7, 1935, in Herkimer, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary (Piscione) Testa. She graduated from Herkimer High School. On August 26, 1961, she was united in marriage with Tom Thomas. She was employed for many years at a variety of businesses, including the G.E. Radio Receiver Plant, on Bleeker Street, in Utica, Ilion Cable, the family’s carpet and linoleum store, Northland Telephone, Enjem’s Flooring and Kmart, in Herkimer, where she retired, in 2005. Mary enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with company at a table full of family and friends.
She was a member of St. Francis DeSales Church, in Herkimer, the St. Francis diPaola Auxiliary and a lifetime member of the Frankfort Young at Heart.
Surviving family members include her husband, Tom Thomas; her two sons, Dr. John Thomas and Nicholas Thomas; her sister, Carol (John) Riente; her sister-in-law, JoAnn Testa; her numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and her cumma’, Angie Wiliczka and Dolores Brashear.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, Nicholas and Mary (Piscione) Testa; her brother, Fred Testa; her nephew, Tony Riente; and in-laws, Julia (Louis) Carnevale, Dolores (Carl) Vivacqua and Anthony Thomas.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours, on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer, NY.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at 9:30 a.m., at the funeral home. After the Funeral Home Services, her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., at St. Francis DeSales Church, in Herkimer, NY. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, NY.
Mary’s funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Enea, Ciaccia & Applegate Funeral Directors.
