DOLGEVILLE – Mary O. Rice, age 100, passed away in the comfort of her own home on Saturday, November 5, 2016.
She was born on November 13, 1915, the daughter of the late Frank and Agnes (Strezinsar) Oblak. Her first marriage was to Stephen Jarosienki who passed away in 1941. She later married Bertram L. Rice, in 1951. Mary was employed for many years as an assembler for the Allegro Shoe Company in Little Falls. Mary enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles and watching "The Price is Right".
Surviving family members include her beloved daughter Elaine March, of Dolgeville with whom she resided; grandchildren, Elaine (Alfred) Knoblauch, Melissa (Don) Darrow, Don (Shannon) March, Clyde (Dawn) March, Mark (Rhonda) March; several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Cecile Rice, and special friends Ed and Carol Wesley and family. She was pre-deceased by parents Frank and Agnes Oblak, her brother Frank Oblak Jr., her husband Bertram Rice, and her grandson Robert March.
A graveside service will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer, in the Spring of 2017.
