MOHAWK: Mary Jane Heafey, 85, a long time Mohawk resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, August 5, 2015 at Mohawk Valley Health Care Center, Ilion.

Born in Cold Brook, NY on July 4, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Henry Lindley and Abbie (Boland) Lock. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of Mohawk High School. On November 11, 1950, she married George Heafey in the Grace Episcopal Church, Mohawk; the couple sharing 64 years of a loving marriage. Mary Jane was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. She was thrilled to have a great-grandson. Family meant everything to her and she enjoyed cooking and baking for them. She loved traveling to the Amish Country in Pennsylvania several times a year and going out to dinner with her husband. In her leisure time she enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading and taking care of her home; she kept an immaculate house.

She is survived by her beloved husband, George; her daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and Russell Roof of Ilion, Lori and Carmen Tubia of Mohawk; her cherished grandchildren, Mary Schmitt and husband Matt and Benjamin Tubia; great- grandson, Lucas Peter Schmitt and nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her brother, Donald Lock.

The family would like to thank the 4th floor staff of Mohawk Valley Health Care and the Mohawk Homestead for the care and compassion shown to Mary Jane during her time spent in those facilities.
