Mary F. Kattato

Mrs. Mary F. (Zaffarano) Kattato, age 88, of Frankfort, NY passed away on February 7, 2026, at Wynn Hospital in Utica, NY, reuniting with her beloved husband.

Mary was born on February 21, 1937, to the late Joseph and Madeline (Pedalino) Zaffarano. She attended Frankfort schools, graduating with the class of 1954. On June 30, 1956, she married James F Kattato at St. Mary's Church. Together they shared a loving union of nearly 44 years until James' passing on January 5, 2000. Mary never stopped missing him every day of her life.

Mary is survived by her children, son James F Kattato Jr and wife Michele (Cavaretta) of Frankfort, daughter Kimberly Courto and husband Frank of Cape Coral, FL, and her cherished grandson Philip J Kattato and fiancé Sarah Ewald of Arlington, VA. She also leaves behind her brother Joseph Zaffarano of Tennessee, sister-in-law, Mary Catherine Tocci of Utica, NY and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, sisters and brothers-in-law Janette and Edward Dunn and Rachel and William Schuchman, James' parents Frank and Francis (Lille) Kattato, and in-laws Nicholas and Virginia (Farmer) Kattato and Oreste Tocci.

The family would like to thank the rehab staff at Foltsbrook Center in Herkimer for the love, care and compassion they showed Mary during her stay there.

In honoring Mary’s wishes, her family has arranged for services to be held privately in the spring with The Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, located at 4309 Acme Road in Ilion, New York. She will then be laid to rest with her husband at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frankfort, NY.
