Marion K. Scanlon

FAIRFIELD - Mrs. Marion K. Scanlon, age 95, of Fairfield, New York, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, October 28th, 2025, at Wynn Hospital, leaving behind a legacy of love and resilience. 

Born on April 22nd, 1930, at Little Falls Hospital to the late Patrick and Margaret (Hartnett) Kelleher, Marion's journey began in the heart of the community. She received her education in a quaint one-room schoolhouse known as “District #9” where she was the proud school keeper who walked to school early to get everything ready for the day by shoveling the walkway and starting the fire before everyone arrived, until after 6th grade where she moved on to St. Mary’s Academy in Little Falls, where she proudly graduated with the Class of 1948.

Marion dedicated her life to her family and the cherished Kelleher Farms & Auction, where she was a vital force in dairy farming, cattle, and auctioneer services. Her unwavering work ethic shone as she tended to barn chores, milked cows, and managed the intricate paperwork, all while being a devoted caregiver to her family.

Marion embraced life with open arms. She married William C. Scanlon on August 19th, 1967, sharing a beautiful partnership until his passing in 1995. A beloved Sunday school teacher at the former St. Mary’s Church in Middleville. Some of her happiest memories revolved around the simplest joys: visits with friends and family, ice cream trips, adventuring in her granddaughter’s lifted Jeep, reading her daily newspaper, and Friday Fish Fry’s.

As a devoted member of the Holy Family Parish in Little Falls and a proud lifetime member of the NRA, and election pollster. Marion remained connected to the values and community she held dear.

Marion is preceded in death by her brothers, John, Robert (Marion), and Francis Kelleher. She is survived by her loving family, including her son John P. Scanlon and daughter-in-law Jennifer, and her treasured granddaughter, Erin Scanlon, all of Fairfield. She leaves behind several special nieces and nephews, along with grandnephews and grandnieces, whose visits and telephone conversations brought her immense joy.

The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to Marion’s caregivers for their unwavering support and compassion.

Marion’s honest spirit will be dearly missed, yet the warmth of her memory will continue to inspire all who knew her.

The family will receive relatives and friends for calling hours at The Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe Street, Little Falls, NY, from 7:00pm-9:00pm on Thursday November 6th, 2025.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 7th, 2025, commencing at 10:30 AM from the funeral home in Little Falls and at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Parish Church, corner of East Main & John Sts. Little Falls, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Procession will then follow to St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer, where she will be laid to rest in the family plot.
