ILION – Marion E. Matthews, age 91, formerly of Spring St., Ilion, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 2, 2016, at Folts Home, Herkimer.
Marion was born on May 5, 1925, in Frankfort, the daughter of Charles and Mary Phillips, and attended Mohawk schools. She was married to Robert A. Matthews, who died several years ago. Marion was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Mohawk Valley General Hospital, Ilion. She attended Ilion United Methodist Church.
Surviving family members include her sisters, Adele Anesini, Joan Doran, and Faye Lasorella; her brother, Richard Phillips; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, Frederick Merritt Matthews.
In keeping with Marion’s wishes, there are no scheduled calling hours or services. Interment will be in Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion, next to her husband, Robert.
