Marion Hoffman

Marion (Hollandt) Hoffman, age 95, formerly a longtime Ilion resident, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica. Marion was born October 9, 1911 in Manhattan, daughter of Edward and Catherine (Schaefer) Vail. She was a high school graduate and attended the Jersey City Medical Center School of Nursing where she obtained her Registered Nurse degree. In 1937 she was united in marriage to Dr. Erwin Hollandt. Dr. Hollandt died in 1944. She later married Howard G. Hoffman in 1948. Mr. Hoffman died in 2004. Marion was employed by the Ilion School District as a teacher and school nurse from 1945 to 1976. Survivors include one son, Robert E. Hollandt of Thendara; one daughter, Barbara Hollandt, MD of NJ; one sister, Laura Lawrence of NJ; her grandchildren, Susan Simonelli, James E. Hollandt, MD, Sally Taylor, Jennifer DaSilva, and Karl Hollandt. Mrs. Hoffman's funeral service will be held Thursday, June 7th, commencing at 3 p.m. at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion, with Deacon James Bower of the Church of the Annunciation officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-3 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Entombment will follow the service in Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion.
