Marie E. Young, age 93, formerly of 12 E. North St., Ilion, died Sunday, May 8, 2005, at the Shorrock Garden Care Center in Brick, New Jersey. She was born on February 19, 1912 in Warren, Rhode Island, the daughter of James and Mary (Flanagan) FitzSimons. On September 22, 1931, she was married to William "Bill" H. Young in Syracuse. He died on November 18, 1976. At one time, she was employed as an assembler at MDS in Herkimer. Marie enjoyed reading and playing bridge. Survivors include her two sons and three daughters-in-law, William "Bill" and Elizabeth "Betty" Young of Toms River, NJ, Don and Gloria Young of Whidbey, Washington, and Linda Young of Monroe, NY; seven grandchildren, Debbie Streeton and husband, Gary, William Young, Beth Parcells and husband, Sean, Edward Young and wife, Kathy, Erin Mitchell and husband, Gary, Adam Young and wife, Anett, and Kerri Young; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Ned Young, in 1982; her infant daughter, Nedra; two brothers, James and William FitzSimons. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion. Visitation will be held Wednesday, 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Anyone needing a ride to visitation or services may contact the funeral home at 895-7722 for free transportation assistance. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Ilion. Donation envelopes are available at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, Ilion.
