Marian L. Tooly, 93 a long time Dolgeville resident, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2005 at the Folts Home, Herkimer, NY. She was born February 8, 1912 in Weehawken, NJ, the daughter of the late Arthur and Jennie (Wells) VanderBurgh. Marian was educated in Plattsburgh, NY schools and was a graduate of Plattsburgh Normal School, (now SUNY Plattsburgh) where she received her degree in teaching. Her marriage to Emory L. Tooly took place on November 29, 1934 in Plattsburgh, NY. The couple shared a blessed union of 58 years until the passing of Mr. Tooly on April 10, 1993. For several years she enjoyed working at the Village Gift Shop in Dolgeville. Mrs. Tooly was a member of the Dolgeville United Methodist church and was a member of the Auskerada Chapter of OES in Dolgeville. With family as her foremost priority, Marian was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Marian enjoyed traveling with her late husband, playing bridge with her friends, and bowling. In her leisure, she enjoyed needlepoint and was an avid reader. Marian enjoyed her retirement life in Sun City, Arizona and more recently her return to Dolgeville. Survivors include a son, Clark Tooly and his wife Irene of Dolgeville, a daughter Grace Spencer and her friend Bill Carroll of Ilion, and a daughter Susan DeLuco and her husband George of Dolgeville. She is also survived by several grandchildren: Lenore Gabriel, Clark Emory Tooly and wife Connie, Janelle DeLuco, Daryn DeLuco and Nancy Spencer. Surviving great grandchildren include, Geoffrey Gabriel, Brian Gabriel, Alexander Tooly and Elizabeth Tooly. She was pre-deceased by a brother, Harold and a sister, Cora. According to Marian's wishes, cremation will take place under the direction of the Roberts and Enea Family Funeral Home, 3 Faville Ave., Dolgeville, NY. Friends and relatives are invited to pay their respects to the family on Wednesday March 30, 2005 from 5-6 pm at the funeral home. The family wishes to celebrate the life of Marian Tooly in a private ceremony following the calling hours. Interment will take place in the Dolgeville Cemetery later in the spring. In lieu of food and flowers, all memorial contributions may be made to the Emory and Marian Tooly Memorial Scholarship, c/o Dolgeville Central School, 38 Slawson Street, Dolgeville, NY 13329. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Members of the Auskerada Chapter of the OES are asked to meet at the funeral home at 6:00 pm Wednesday evening for services.
