Margaret J. Taylor

Margaret J. Taylor (Mrs. Margaret), age 93, a longtime resident of the Ilion area, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, July 15, 2024. Her passing occurred at the Sitrin Health Care Center where she has resided for the past few years.

Margaret (Chamberlain) Taylor was born on December 27, 1930 in Buffalo, NY to Howard Chamberlain and Mathilda Reinecker, both deceased. Mrs. Margaret had 2 siblings: Charles Chamberlain (brother) and Frances Amentio (sister).

Mrs. Margaret married Wilbur Taylor and together they shared one daughter, Noreen Ann Taylor. Mrs. Margaret was employed at Herkimer Colony, as a housekeeper and Industrial Center in Ilion, NY until her retirement in June 1996. Following retirement Mrs. Margaret lived at the Prindle Apartments in Ilion NY and enjoyed going to the Knight spot for a tuna fish sandwich and socializing with others in the local area.

Mrs. Margaret went to stay at the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home in 2011, where she remained social and enjoyed playing bingo with her friends. Mrs. Margaret moved to Gan Kavod into the Maple IRA on June 15, 2017. During her years at Gan Kavod Mrs. Margaret enjoyed socializing with others over coffee or going out for a meal at local restaurants. Mrs. Margaret always had a wonderful story to share about her life experiences. Mrs. Margaret took great pride in her personal appearance and loved to get gussied up wearing her pearls and fancy clothing no matter what the occasion. Mrs. Margaret’s was a loving and kind soul who touched everyone who had the pleasure of spending time with her, no matter how brief. She will be missed immensely, and we are saddened by her loss.

Thank you to all the nurses and caregivers of Gan Kavod and the Sitrin Health Care Center for the care provide to Mrs. Margaret over the years and her final days.

A graveside service will take place on Friday morning, July 19, 2024, at 10:00AM at Armory Hill Cemetery in Ilion, where Margaret's earthly remains will be laid to rest.
