Mrs. Marcia Elwood Vespi 87 a resident of the Livingston County Center for Nursing in Mount Morris, New York and formerly of 10 Lamberson Street Dolgeville, died Tuesday August 24, 2010 at the nursing facility.
She was born in Dolgeville on November 18, 1922 the daughter of Arthur H. and Olie (Dockstader) Elwood and attended Dolgeville Schools.
Her marriage to Ernest A. Vespi took place on August 25, 1940 in Little Falls, New York. He predeceased her on July 17, 2001.
Marcia was employed by area companies, lastly by the Dolgeville Big M in the deli department.
She will be remembered by her family and friends as an avid New York Yankee fan, and her caring ability and helpfulness towards animals. She was also a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Alfred Dolge Hose Company.
Surviving her is a son and his wife Norman and Sue Vespi of Miami, FL., her daughters Marcia LeFave of Mt. Morris and April and her husband Peter Valentine of Carey, NC and Barbara Raymer of New York Mills, a Sister Mrs. Esther Loucks of Dolgeville, 9 Grandchildren, several Great Grandchildren and Great- Great Grandchildren, a Sister and Brother in Law Clara and Patsey Vennera of Little Falls, Nieces and Nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Arlene Dunderdale in 1995.
Funeral services will be held Saturday August 28, 2010 at 11 AM at the Roberts & Enea Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville. Burial will follow in the Dolgeville Cemetery. Calling hours are on Friday evening from 6-8 PM.
In addition to flowers, memorials may be sent to the S.P.C.A in her name.
