MOHAWK – Louise Jane Williams, age 96, formerly a long-time resident of Bellinger Street, Mohawk, New York, passed away on Thursday morning, October 30th, 2025, at Valley Health Services, Herkimer, where she was a resident.
She was born on July 1st, 1929, in Little Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Harry and Edith (Rogler) Hawver. Louise was a graduate of Mohawk High School.
Louise, a dedicated member of her community, had an impressive career that spanned several local companies. Most recently, she served as a key punch operator for the County of Herkimer, NY. Over the years, Louise contributed her talents to notable organizations such as Mohawk Data Sciences, Univac, and General Electric.
A lifelong member of the Ilion – Frankfort United Methodist Church, Louise devoted nearly 80 years to her faith community, demonstrating unwavering commitment and service. Additionally, she was an esteemed life member of the Mohawk American Legion Post Auxiliary Post #25, where she had the honor of serving as Past President for many years.
Louise's legacy includes her impactful contributions to both her profession and her community, leaving behind a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Louise dedicated over 25 years of her life to volunteer work, significantly impacting her community through her service with the Herkimer Food Pantry and the Cornerstone Shop in Ilion, a vital resource provided by the Morning Star United Methodist Church. Her unwavering commitment to helping others earned her recognition from Catholic Charities of Herkimer County on June 13th, 2019, when she was honored as the recipient of the “Hours For Others” award. This commendation acknowledged the thousands of hours she devoted to compassionate service, providing invaluable support to the needy and vulnerable populations in Herkimer County. Louise's legacy of kindness and community service will be remembered by all whose lives she touched.
She is survived by two sons, Ed Kovac of Mohawk and Mark Kovac of Mohawk and Alaska; her granddaughter, Heather Stocking and husband, Danny Zerott; her grandsons, Aaron Stocking and his wife, Sonia, Kyle Kovac and his fiancé Kaylyn, David Kovac and his wife Jasmine, and Joshua Wojehowski and his wife Heather; her great-granddaughters, Jenett, Julie, Cathrine, Lyra, Ivy, and Coralai, her great-grandsons, Adrean, Lucas, Michael, Walker, Martin, and Reed, and several nieces and nephews.
Louise was predeceased by her daughter, Diane Stocking, and her son-in-law, Lonnie Stocking.
Funeral services will be held 6:00 p.m., Friday, November 7th, 2025, at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion, NY, with Rev. Joelle Faulks, officiating. Interment will be on MONDAY, November 10th, at 10:00 AM in Mohawk Cemetery, Village, in the Adams – Rogler family plot.
Calling hours are Friday, November 7th, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with the funeral service to follow.
Members of the Mohawk American Legion Crowley-Barnum Post #25 Auxiliary will conduct their Ritualistic Service on Friday, November 7th, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
