Louise Hoffman, 75, of 9 Rockefeller Dr., St. Johnsville, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2003, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Utica. She was born Octobert 3, 1927, in Nelliston, daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Wagner) Winkler and was a graduate of Fort Plain High School, class of 1944. Her marriage to John Hoffman took place on May 16, 1948, at St. James Catholic Church in Fort Plain. Mrs. Hoffman was employed as a secretary at Luxuray in Fort Plain, a teacher's aide for the St. Johnsville Central School District and worked with her husband, John, on the family farm on Crum Creek Road until their retirement in 1984. Louise was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and served on the St. Johnsville Board of Education for eight years. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, John; a daughter, Mary Lowery and husband John of Ithaca; a son, David Hoffman and wife Theresa of Rochester; granddaughters, Kathleen Lowery of Florida and Elizabeth, Sarah and Emily Hoffman of Rochester; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a brother-in-law, Ed Hoffman. She was predeceased by two sisters, Loretta Smith and Doris Trembley. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 17, at 9 a.m. from the Smith-Woody and Enea Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, and at 9:30 a.m. from St. Patrick's Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Spring interment will be in St. Johnsville Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Thursday, January 16, from 4-8 p.m. All memorial contributions may be made to S.A.V.A.C. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
