MOHAWK – Mr. Louis S. Guido, 79, passed away August 15, 2024, with his loving family by his side.

He was Born to Dominick and Mary (Licari) Guido, on September 10, 1944 and attended Mohawk school, and then was drafted to the US Army, serving as a Helicopter Crew Chief, in Vietnam. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Powell, on July 26, 1969. They recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary, a marriage for the ages.

He Worked in Remington Arms prior to his military service and upon his return until his retirement in 1994 with 30 years of dedication. Alongside his wife, he started the business Guido’s Camper Sales and Self-Storage, in 1984, until they closed the camper sales in 2004, never truly retiring but continuing with the self storage business.

He Leaves his loving wife, Phyllis; his adored daughter, Theresa (Eli), of Blossvale; his cherished sons, Louis, of Mohawk and Corey (Dee), of Rome; his grandchildren, Alan and Tiffany Hoke, Kyle and Aleah Hoke, Myra and Max Klump Alyssa Case, Kevin Oram, Seth Guido, Allyson Guido, Bella Guido, Dominick Guido, Sophia Guido and Olivia Guido; his great-grandchildren, Kaylyn, Vincent, Anthony (Goose), Jack Louis, Addis, Emma and Hunter; his brother, Dominick Guido; his sister, Donna Lewis; his mother-in-law, Marie Powell; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. His many camping friends are from New York and Florida.

He was predeceased by his father, Dominick; his mother, Mary; and his father-in-law, Francis Powell.

The family would like to thank SUNY Upstate, floor 9 F along with nurses, Cisco and Christopher for their compassion and care given to Louis and his family and Will Lipczynski, of the Chaumont Fire Department to assist Phyllis in her time of need.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, in Ilion, New York and calling hours will be held on that same day, prior to the Funeral Service from 10:00 a.m., until 1:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to attend the calling hours and the Funeral Service to follow, on Wednesday.

At the conclusion of the Funeral Service, all are invited to the Town of German Flatts Community Center, 555 State Route 5S, in Mohawk, for a Celebration of Lou’s Life. His family only will gather at the Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion, for the private interment service with full military honors and then return to the Community Center to join everyone.

It is the wish if the family that in lieu of floral offerings, donations in loving memory of Louis Guido be considered to MOVAC, 15 New York 5S, Mohawk, NY 13407-4700. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home for this purpose.
