Mrs. Lois J. Yatarola 84 of the Shedd Road Salisbury Center, and who has been a resident of the Alpine Nursing Home in Little Falls, died Monday June 29, 2015 in Little Falls Hospital after an extended illness.
Lois was born in Little Falls, on April 10, 1931 the daughter of the late Leon and Hazel (Hewitt) Ingersoll and was a graduate of Dolgeville High School. She continued her education by graduating from Geneseo College with a BS degree and also graduated from the University of Rochester with a Masters degree in education.
She was employed by the Rochester City School system as an elementary 4th grade teacher for many years. She retired from there in 1987.
Lois was united in marriage to Rudolph "Rudy' Yatarola on July 5, 1952 in Dolgeville. They would have celebrated 63 years of marriage this July 5th.
She was a member of the New York State Retired Teachers Association, the Salisbury Center Grange, and the Salisbury Historical Society.
Surviving her is her husband Rudolph, her daughter and her husband Lynn and Terry Singleton of New Milford, Conn., her sons, Kevin Yatarola of Brooklyn, Michael and his wife Alice Yatarola of Rochester and Mark Yatarola of Crossriver, NY, her grandchildren Craig, Laura, Eric, Amanda and Diane, and a great grandson Giovanni Thomas.
Calling hours are on Wednesday July 1st, 2015 from 10 AM until Noon at the Roberts & Enea Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville. Burial will follow in Rural Park Cemetery, Ingham Mills.
