Lois Margaret “Margie” DeCarr, age 88, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2023.
She was born June 27, 1935, in Little Falls, N.Y. to Donald and Helen (Healey) Borst. Margie was a graduate of Dolgeville Central School, class of 1953. She married Harold on May 15, 1954, at St. Joseph’s Church in Dolgeville, where they lived for over 50 years on Faville Ave.
Margie lived a healthy and independent life. She loved being part of a large family and had wonderful memories of the Borst family gatherings. She enjoyed her retirement years, traveling to spend time with her children and grandchildren, who adored her and her calm, easygoing personality. She loved to bake and was a talented crafter; she would hand sew blankets and Halloween costumes for her grandchildren and could turn an old antique furniture piece into something new and beautiful. She also enjoyed “road trippin’” with her sisters Donna, Cis, Judy, sister-in-law Donna Borst and childhood friend Rose Pavalock. They felt like teenagers again!
We will miss her smile, delightful spirit, and kind soul. If there is a motherhood Hall of Fame, Margie is a unanimous First Ballot!
She is survived by her children, Doug, daughter-in-law Nancy Bongiovanni DeCarr, and their children Alexa (Jake) Lisowski, Austin and Blake; Amy and Patrick Clearey; Michele and Bill Cleary and their children Jessica, Dustin andBilly; Mary and John Burrows and their children Brandon and Bryn, granddaughter Heather DeCarr; Siblings, Donna (Mack) Allgood, John (Donna) Borst, Cynthia (George) Foust ,Dr. Frank Borst and Judy Bartholomew; Great-grandchildren Hailey, Nate, Eisleigh, Reece, nieces and nephews.
She loved and appreciated her DeCarr family, Jim, Julie, Mary Kay, John, Patty, and Ann as well.
She was predeceased by her husband Deke, son Scott, grandson Nate Dineen, brother-in-law Robert and nephews Joe DeCarr and Jeff Foust.
The family will hold a private graveside ceremony at Rural Park Cemetery, Ingham Mills. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project by visiting:
