MOHAWK - Linda H. Tharp passed away peacefully on June 12, 2021. She was a proud and loving mom to her children and their spouses, partners, and grandsons. They include Geoff Tharp and Jacqueline Klosner, Lauren and Stephan Weiss, Jonathan, Katrina, and Dylan Tharp, and Will Tharp and Leah Eldred.

Linda was born on August 21, 1941, in Utica, New York. She graduated from Holland Patent Central School, received her bachelor’s degree from State University of New York in Albany and received her Master’s in Education from the University of Toledo. She married the love of her life, William Sutton Tharp, Jr., on January 20, 1968. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2018 before his passing in February of that year. They had three children together.

Linda dedicated herself to helping every child in the numerous roles she held, from math teacher, guidance counselor, principal, superintendent, and school board member. She believed in empowering others to do their best. She served on the Owen D. Young school board for 12 years, 8 as president, as well as the Herkimer County BOCES school board until her passing.

In keeping with Linda’s wishes, there will be no funeral or viewing.
