Linda Ilene Kinney

Linda Ilene Kinney, 68, of Ilion, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 6, 2026, at Wynn Hospital in Utica.

Born on August 31, 1957, in Herkimer, NY, Linda was the daughter of Paul and Ethel (Hanson) Kinney and a 1976 graduate of Ilion High School.

Known for her caring nature, Linda spent many years babysitting, a role she truly loved. She later worked for Herb Philipson’s, provided in-home care for others, and eventually retired from Valley Residential.

Linda had a deep love for the Adirondacks, nature, and being near the water. She was an avid birdwatcher, photographer, and gardener who enjoyed sunrises, sunsets, daily exercise classes, and long walks. Her favorite things to do were to "spend time with my sisters, laughing and remembering our family life from child hood," and  spending time with nieces, nephews, and their families. She also took great joy in baking holiday treats for friends and family and enjoying long car rides with the sun shining on us and the music blasting.

Linda was predeceased by her parents and several aunts and uncles. She is survived by her loving sisters: Paula Rex, Laura Kinney, Norma Kinney (Judy), Donna Kinney, and Debbie Johnson;  and several aunts, and cousins.

Our family wishes to thank the staff on the eighth floor west of Wynn Hospital for the excellent care they provided to Linda.

Per Linda’s request, there will be no calling hours. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
