Linda Lou Gorton

ILION - It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Linda Lou Gorton, 78, of Ilion on August 7th, 2025.

Linda was born November 16th, 1946, to parents Veva Gallagher and Philip Gorton, in Taberg, New York.

Linda spent many years working in Human Services dedicating herself to those in need through various roles and positions. Linda attended Monroe Community College, where she earned her degree in order to better her future.

In 1980 Linda gave birth to her son Aaron Gorton, whom she adored. Caring and providing for her son was her true-life purpose. Linda was so very proud of her son and felt so blessed to have him in her life. In her later years, that same love and devotion to her family was evident to anyone who witnessed her with her grandchildren. Linda was well known for sharing stories and pictures of her grandchildren wherever she went. Linda stayed young at heart for many years through countless hours singing and playing with her grandchildren Scarlet and Aaron Jr. Linda was also known as the family historian, always remembering birthdays, anniversaries, and important details. Linda loved her family fiercely and will be greatly missed.

Linda is survived by her son Aaron Gorton, grandchildren; Scarlet Lou Gorton, Aaron Robert Gorton Jr., siblings; Pat DeVelder, David Race, Cheryl Steier (Jim), Dan Race (Pearl), and Lillian Breemes, lifelong friend Kathy Crosson, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom Linda cared for deeply.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Bill, Tom, Mike, Jack, and Donny, sisters; Phyllis, and Sue.

Wishes for privacy at Linda’s request have been honored. There are no services. All arrangements have been entrusted to The Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road in Ilion, New York.
