ILION-HERKIMER - Linda J. Burdick, age 65, of Herkimer, formerly of Ilion, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 18, 2014.
She was born on January 24, 1949, in Troy, NY, the daughter of Thomas and Nancy (Kulson) Thompson. Linda graduated from Mechanicsville Central School and BOCES School of Nursing, receiving her L.P.N. She was employed in the nursing field at Masonic Care Community for over fifteen years, retiring in 2011. She attended Methodist Church.
Linda loved all animals and had a soft heart for homeless animals. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping and traveling with her family. Most important in her life were her children and her grandchildren who she always bragged about.
Survivors include her daughters, Lisa Maldonado and her husband, Jose, of Ilion, and Lori Dempsey and fiance, Troy Riddell, of Ilion; five grandchildren, Jose, Marissa and Miranda Maldonado, and Caitlin and Madison Riddell, of Ilion; her sisters, Bonnie Kalka and her husband, Terry, of Ilion, Donna Hall and her husband, Ronnie, of Fairfield, Debbie Thompson and Larae Ylitalo, and Jennifer Smith and her husband, Shane, all of TN; her brothers, Richard Thompson, of Frankfort, Robert Thompson and his wife, Sherri, of Herkimer, Brian Thompson and Gary Ollerenshaw, of Utica, and David Reinhardt, of Ilion; her uncle, Terry Thompson, of Mechanicsville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her sister, Betty Lou Nichols, and her parents, Nancy and Thomas Thompson.
Linda's Memorial Service and celebration of her life will be held 6:00 p.m., Friday, February 21, 2014, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion, with Rev. Robert Wollaber officiating.
Calling hours are Friday, February 21, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
