SCHUYLER – Leon Ward Heselton, age 90, of Schuyler, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital,New Hartford, NY.
He was born on November 10, 1932, in Rutland, VT, the son of Ward and Gladys (Gilman) Heselton. Leon graduated from Woodstock High School in Vermont,University of Mass, in 1964 and Clarkson University, with a Master’s Degree in Engineering Science, in 1973. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Navy and continued serving in the U.S. Naval Reserve, retired in1992 On December 3, 1956, he was married to Emlyann Ingraham, of Claremont, NH. She passed away on June 9,2017, after 60 years, 6 months and 6 days of marriage (per Dad). He worked as an engineer at NSA and was a Lieutenant JG in the Naval Security Group. Leon taught electronics at three two-year colleges for 23 years, which included; Vermont Technical College, in Randolph Center,VT, Fulton-Montgomery Community College, Johnstown,NY and Mohawk Valley Community College, in Utica, NY,where he was the Department Head of Electrical Engineering Technology. He was also an ElectronicsTechnician, at the U.S. Post Office, in Utica. He retired with over 13 years of civil service from USPS.
Surviving family members include his children: Emmy LouHock and husband, Jerrold, of Buffalo, Elroy Ira Heseltonand his wife, Elizabeth, of Lakeport, NY and Lee Ann Fahy,of St. Petersburg, FL; his brother, Elroy G. Heselton and his wife, Elizabeth; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
His Grandchildren, Hans-Peter Hock [Millissa], Anneliese Hock, [Lloyd Hunt], Karl Ambros Hock, Adelheid Rose Hock, Savannah Leigh Heselton, Benjamin Michael Heselton, Philip E. Fahy, Andrew D. Fahy and (Jenny Lillkvist), Julianna M. Fahy, Brady P. Fahy and his wife, (Tristin).
His great-grandchildren: Torsten Blaze Hock [Hans], Brynja Ember Hock [Hans], HonaLora Helena Hock [Anneliese], Wolf Ambros Hunt [Anneliese], Lily and Ruby Lillkvist-Fahy [Andrew], Maeve Leanne Fahy [Brady]; Dad's sweet manx cat, Chocolate (Chocky).
He was predeceased by his wife, Emlyann; his son, Todd;and 3 sisters, Joann Nichols, Blanche Marro and Hilda Bartucca.
His granddaughter, Savannah Heselton, had been his mainCaretaker over the last year up to his meeting with theLord. Leon had a firm faith in Jesus Christ that he shared with many during his life.
Funeral Services will be held 12:30 p.m., Monday, June 19,
2023, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home’s
larger facility location, at 4309 Acme Rd. (old Main Street)
between Ilion and Frankfort. Visitation will be Monday,
from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., prior to the service at the
funeral home.
