Mr. Leon J. "Bo" Coffin, Jr., age 62, of Sebring, Fla., formerly of Little Falls went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 23, 2004 in Lake Placid Hospital, Florida. His passing occurred after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on January 30, 1941 in Little Falls a son of the late Leon Coffin, Sr. and Philena (Tisi) Coffin who resides in Florida. Leon received his education in Little Falls schools and has been spending the winter months in Florida. He was last employed with General Electric. He was an active member of New Hope Ministries, Herkimer where he served as a council member and Sunday school teacher. Always putting the needs of others before his own was the hallmark of Leon's life. This quality that he possessed was evident as he faithfully served as board member with the American Red Cross and was treasurer at one time. He was a member of the Fort Herkimer Amateur Radio Club, sons of the American Legion Post #31 and was very active with Boy Scouts Troop #42. By nature a outgoing and straight-forward man, he was at the same time gifted with unwavering reliability. Among the many images and memories which his family and friends will cherish, he will always be pictured in their minds and in their hearts by his ever-present ability to always be there for them. His generosity was reflected by the numerous porches he built at his camp in Cooperstown. It was here that Leon truly enjoyed the beauty, relaxation and comfort of camp life. His legacy has influenced numerous people and he will be dearly missed. In his leisure time, he enjoyed motorcycle riding, computers, woodworking and model airplanes. He leaves his beloved family including his mother, Philena in Florida, two beloved sons, Philip Coffin and wife Tina of Little Falls, Randy Coffin and wife Bette of Little Falls, a daughter in law, Debbie Coffin of Little Falls, a brother Richard J. Coffin and wife Regina of Sacandoga Lake, a sister, Rosanne Richie and huband Roy of Stratford, NJ, ten adored grandchildren, Cory Patterson, Rebecca Coffin, Rebecca Cook, Ricky and Eric Coffin, Katie Lynn Fuller, Philena Coffin, Donnie, Laura and Jordan Herringshaw. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He always cherished the fond memories of his son, Ricky Coffin who passed away on June 3, 1990. Visitation at the Enea Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004 from 5-8 p.m. His funeral will commence at 11 am on Wednesday, Jan. 28, from the chapel of the Enea Funeral Home, Little Falls with the Rev. Dan Mahoney, pastor of New Hope Ministries, Herkimer, officiating. Helen Maksymicz, chapel organist will offer music. He will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer. Memorial contributions may be made in Leon's name to New Hope Ministries, Herkimer, envelopes are available at the funeral parlor.
