Obituary
Mr. Leland Frank Nichols Sr., 65, of 204 House Hill Road Salisbury Center, died unexpectedly Saturday September 15, 2007 at St. Elizabeth?s Hospital, Utica with his loving family at his side.

He was born in the town of Salisbury on July 7, 1942 the son of Frank and Marie (Gilbert) Nichols and attended local schools. Leland was last employed by Ron Allen Trucking in Canajoharie as a tractor trailer driver, which he thoroughly enjoyed.

He was a very loving husband, a wonderful father; grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all. He was a very giving man and everyone else?s needs came before his own. He loved to ride four wheelers, camping, hunting and fishing and mostly spending time with his family and especially his afternoon coffee with Randy and Shelly.

He is survived by his wife the former Linda Randall of 45 years, his children: Diana and Paul Borst of Oppenheim, June and Robert Morse of Stratford, Leland Nichols Jr and April Lynch of Herkimer, Sandra and Chet Dillenbeck of Salisbury Center, Heidi Nichols of Fort Plain and Joe Gonzalez of California; his grandchildren Nicole, Shane, Daisy, TC,Victoria,Gregory, Marie, Samantha, Amanda, Kaylee, Breonna, and Tanner, two great Granddaughters Leeann and Aryanna; his Brothers and their wives Robert and Jeane Nichols of North Carolina, Ronald and Diane Nichols of Little Falls, Eugene and Muriel Nichols of Norwich, Wayne and Janene Eckerson of New York City. He was predeceased by a brother Richard Gilbert and a Sister Ida Harrison and a Grandson Chad Lee Nichols. Additional survivors include his brothers and sisters in law, his nieces and nephews, and cousins and his aunt, and all of the many people who called him dad and gramps.

In keeping with his wishes, he made an anatomical gift of his body to the SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse. There are no formal services or calling hours at this time.
