Leda Sophie Failing, 90, of Kringsbush Road, St. Johnsville, passed away on Friday March 16, 2007 at St. Johnsville Nursing Home. She was born January 16, 1917 in Little Falls, the daughter of the late Ferdinand & Sophie (Schmidt) Graudons and attended Little Falls schools. Her marriage to David Failing took place on May 27, 1944 in Little Falls. She was a member of St. Paul?s Lutheran Church in St. Johnsville. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, David, her children, Diane Hoffman and husband Alan of Marlborough, Conn.; David Failing and wife Peg of Deerfield, NY; Duane Failing and wife Carol of Wilmington, Delaware; and Elizabeth Cabanas of St. Johnsville; a brother, Robert Graudons of Little Falls; a sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Schumacher of Little Falls; her grandchildren, Mark Hoffman and fianc?e Bonnie; Melanie Rodrigues and husband Josh; Matthew Hoffman; Cinthia Cabanas; Jason Cabanas; Ian Failing and fianc?e Anna; and Hannah & Emelia Failing; a great grandson, Zachary Rodrigues, and several nieces & nephews. She was pre-deceased by a son, Richard Failing, a sister, Martha Hessler and three brothers, Alfred, William & Henry Graudons. Funeral services will be held on Monday March 19, 2007 at 11:00 am from St. Paul?s Lutheran Church in St. Johnsville. Spring burial will be in St. Johnsville Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday March 18, 2007 from 5-7 pm. All memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul?s Lutheran Church. The family would like to thank the staff of Little Falls Hospital and St. Johnsville Nursing Home for the wonderful care shown to Leda during her stay.
