Lawrence E. Good

Lawrence E. Good, age 83, of New Hartford, passed away on November 12th, 2025, at St. Lukes Nursing Home with his loved ones by his side.

Lawrence (Larn) was born on October 16th, 1942, in Johnson City, NY, to Stanley and Marie Good (Wood) Lawrence. He grew up in Mohawk, NY and graduated from Mohawk Central School District. Upon graduating he worked at Chicago Pneumatic as an apprentice tool maker. Larry went on to further his education at Utica College, receiving his bachelor’s degree in English. He was an Elementary School Teacher at Remsen Central School District for 30 years, retiring in 1997. He greatly impacted the lives of many students.

Lawrence was married to Janice M. Yeoman for 41 years and raised two children together, Christoper (Jennifer) Good and Rebecca (Michael) Hartnett.

Later in life Larry reconnected with his childhood sweetheart Dianne Hyde Markwardt. They rekindled their romance at 70 years old, joining in marriage on November 24, 2012.

Lawrence loved to sing and enjoyed singing silly songs to sing to his grandchildren. He was a happy, kindhearted and beloved, husband, father, grandfather and teacher. He enjoyed walking around his neighborhood and stopping to say hello to everyone. He loved for music, art, cars and delicious food. In his younger days he enjoyed gardening, drawing and sketching. He cared deeply for his pets and considered them part of the family.

Lawrence was very proud of his family and spoke of them to friends and neighbors any chance he got. He will be deeply missed.

Lawrence is predeceased by his sister Mary Alves and her husband John.

He is survived by his wife Dianne (Hyde) Markwardt Good, his children, Christopher (Jennifer) Good, Rebecca (Michael) Hartnett, stepchildren; Fred (Kim) Markwardt, Karl Markwardt, Andrew (Holly) Markwardt and his grandchildren; Sophia Good, Joshua Good, Emma Hullar, Bethany Hullar, Kevin (Adrienne Aiello) Markwardt, Brigitte Markwardt, Kirsty Sklarz, Ian Markwardt and Anna (Alyssa Bendure) Markwardt. He also leaves his brother Joseph (Diane) Good, nieces and nephews Carleen Crespo, Mark Alves, Michael Yeoman and Susan O’Brien.

In keeping with Larry’s wishes there will be no formal services. His funeral arrangements are under the care of the Enea Ciaccia Family Funeral Directors. 4309 Acme Road Ilion, NY 13357.
