Larry R. Nellis

FORT PLAIN – Mr. Larry R. Nellis, age 67, of Palatine Church Road, Fort Plain, New York, passed away in the early morning of July 18, 2024, at Little Falls Hospital, after his fight with cancer, with his loving family by his side.

Larry Nellis was the son of Daniel and Nihla (Fitzer) Nellis and was born on February 12, 1957. He graduated from St. Johnsville High School, in 1975 and was a lifelong award-winning dairy farmer. Larry had 37 beautiful years of marriage with his soulmate, Cheryl L. Nellis (Abel), before she predeceased him on August 18, 2013. He missed her every day.

Larry is survived by his loving children, his son, Thomas and wife, Teresa Nellis; his daughters, Elizabeth “Liz” and husband, Michael Bailey and Debra and husband, Jeremy Sherwood. his adored grandchildren, Georgia, Violet, Kelton, Kristopher, Katelynn, Malori, Joseph, Ciara, Summer, Angellina and Faith, Eric, Jennica, Michael and Reba; his beloved great-grandchildren, Madilynn and Kolt, Nevyn, Nayan, Emeris, and Sam’Urai, Jennisa, Jace, Jailha, Jade, and Noah. He is also survived by his beloved pets, Chief and Doodie, and grand doggies. He also leaves his brother, Richard Nellis; and sister, Janet and husband, Francis Avery.

He was predeceased by his brother, Daniel. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff of Bassett Healthcare at Little Falls Hospital, for the excellent care and kindness extended to Larry during his last days.

The family will be having a Celebration of Life at the family farm, on August 3, 2024, at 4:00 p,m. There are no calling hours.
