Kenneth Ronald Shafer, age 84, of Jordanville, NY (formerly of Gardiner, NY) born August 30, 1941, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2026.
Kenny, fondly known as Uncle Kenny, spent much of his life working the land. He was a dedicated dairy farmer in Gardiner, NY, before later moving to Jordanville, NY, where he transitioned to beef farming. Kenny cared deeply about the animals he raised and worked tirelessly to ensure they were always well tended to and protected.
He is remembered by all who knew him for his immense generosity, gentleness, and unwavering kindness to everyone he met. Throughout his life, Kenny was a pillar of support for his family. He served as a devoted caregiver to his elderly mother, Emma, before her passing. He was also a meaningful mentor figure to his nephews and is remembered fondly by his nieces for his gentle spirit and warm hugs. Kenny always enjoyed family gatherings and special holiday meals where he would catch up with family news and meet the new additions. He will be deeply missed.
Kenneth was predeceased by his loving parents, Kenneth E. Shafer and Emma C. Shafer and his beloved sister, Joyce M. Alexander and her husband, Walt.
Kenny is survived by his younger brother, Richard R. Shafer and his wife Linda of Hartwick, NY and many dear nieces and nephews (numerous great nieces and nephews) including; Keith Alexander and his wife, Debra and family; Marc Alexander and his wife, Mary, & family; Gregg Alexander and his wife, Jennifer & family; and Jill Alexander Sanchez and her husband, Luis & family. Kimberly Shafer Baron & family; Scott Shafer and his wife, Meghann & family; Chris Shafer and his wife, Emily & family; and Jason Shafer & family
Kenny enjoyed a close friendship with neighbors Steve and Bev Petriski along with many others in his community.
There will be no calling hours. The Shafer & Alexander families plan to have an intimate family celebration of Kenny's life this Fall.
