FRANKFORT – Kathy Elaine Welch, age 67, of Frankfort, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, with her family by her side.
Born on May 5, 1957, in Ilion, Kathy was the daughter of the late Madeline (Edick) Williams and the late Frederick and Mary Williams. She attended and graduated from Mohawk schools.
She was united in marriage to James Welch on July 10, 1982. She worked as an angel in healthcare at St. Luke’s Hospital until her retirement. She was a very devoted, caring and nurturing wife, mother and grandmother. She was known as the matriarch of her family.
When it came to her job, she was the most hardworking, devoted and caring person anyone could ask for; she will be remembered as a legacy in the healthcare world. She was an exceptional cook and baker. You could always find her on Sugar Mountain, whether in the kitchen or outside in her garden, which was her pride and joy.
She is survived by her husband, James Welch; her daughter, Andrea (Mike DiGeorgio) Welch; sons, Scott (Wendy) Welch and Daniel (Tami) Welch; her grandchildren, Johnathan Welch, Nathaniel Welch, Kristin (Austin) Johns, Nicholas (Meghan) Welch, Daniel Welch, Jr., Haylee Welch, Austin Welch, Joshua (Ashley) Mead and Jenna (Anthony) Palmitesso; and ten great-grandchildren.
She also leaves her brother, Frederick Williams; many nieces and nephews; her grand-dog, Cookie; her three sisters-in-law; and her special, dear friend, Sue Holden.
She was predeceased by her parents and sister, Diana Miller.
In keeping with Kathy’s wishes there will be no formal funeral services at this time. A Celebration of Kathy’s Life will be held in the spring of 2025 at a date and time to be announced.
