Kathryn Abeline

Kathryn F. Abeline, 59, of Galinsky Apartments, Herkimer, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, following a long illness. Kathryn was born Jan. 3, 1945, in Asheville, N.C., a daughter of Roy E. and Margaret Fields. She attended school in Harnett County, N.C., attaining her associates degree from college. A devoted mother, she was last employed by Nice and Easy in Herkimer. In her early years, Kathryn was a professional ballet dancer in North Carolina. She enjoyed cooking and crafts, at one time winning contests with her pen and ink drawings. Kathryn was an expert at sewing and quilting, and at one time was an avid hunter and fishing angler. Survivors include her two sons, Michael "Mike" Freudendahl of Ilion and Ronald F. Freudendahl Jr., of California; one grandson, Dillon Freudendahl of Ilion; her mother, Margaret Fields and her sister Shirley Johnson, both of North Carolina; two nieces, Susan Dupree and Kristy, both of North Carolina, and her many friends including those at Galinsky Apartments. She was predeceased by her father and grandparents. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service celebrating Kathryn's life Wednesday, Dec. 22, commencing at 1 p.m. in the community room at the Galinsky Apartments, 105 Protection Ave., Herkimer, with the Rev. Jack Cogar, pastor, officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in North Carolina. All arrangements have been entrusted to the Applegate and Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion.
