Kathleen A. "Kathy" Cannan, age 60, of 164 Purdy Rd., Mohawk, passed away at home Tuesday evening, January 11, 2005. Kathy was born August 7, 1944 in Utica, daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Ryczek) Dziedzic. She was a graduate of Utica Free Academy and Utica School of Commerce. Prior to returning to Mohawk, Kathy was Chief of Security at John Knox Village in Orange City, FL. At one time, she was employed by MDS. She was of the Roman Catholic faith. Kathy loved woodworking and fishing, she was an avid angler on the West Canada Creek. She was a loving and caring person who deeply touched those that knew her. Survivors include her beloved life partner, Dianne Markwardt, at home; her children, Charin Gauney and her husband, Raymond of Deltona, FL, Gerald Cannan and his wife, Annette of Raleigh, NC; Dianne's children, Fred Markwardt and his wife, Kim of Mohawk, Karl Markwardt and his wife, Sharon of Utica, and Andrew Markwardt and his wife, Holly of Mohawk; her cherished grandchildren, Olivia Gauney, David Cannan, Brigitte Evans, Kevin Markwardt, Tytis, Anna and Ian Markwardt; one great-grandchild, Madison Evans; her sister-in-law, Marie Dziedzic of Little Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Richard Dziedzic. In accordance with Kathy's wishes, there are no public calling hours. A memorial service will be held this spring at a date, time and place to be announced. Memorial contributions in Kathy's name may be considered to Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 4277 Middlesettlement Rd., New Hartford, NY 13413. All arrangements have been entrusted to Graves-Applegate-Day Funeral Home, 48 E. Main St., Mohawk, NY.
