Karen Emma Saltsman Trumble

EPHRATAH – Karen Emma (Saltsman) Trumble, age 83, passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side, on Tuesday morning, March 5, 2024, in her home, in St. Johnsville, Town of Ephratah.

She was born on May 4, 1940, in Ephratah, New York. Karen was predeceased by her husband, William Addison Trumble; her parents, Clifton and Margaret (Polmateer) Saltsman; and a granddaughter, Karen Ann Trumble.

Karen was a prep cook at Saltsman’s Hotel for many years, doing what she loved best. She was an avid gardener and loved her flowers. She enjoyed baking and sharing those baked goods with her loved ones. Karen enjoyed spending time with her family and watching the children and grandchildren at their sporting events and dance recitals. She was proud of all their achievements. In later life, she loved going for a ride to get ice cream.

Karen is survived by her children, Laird Trumble, Marlene Arminio (Robert), Shawn DuBois (Phillip), Lolene Cornish (Barry), Darla Crouse (Jeffrey), Reuben Trumble (Kimberly), Fayette Trumble (Rebecca), Reba Trumble (Tom Montana), William C. Trumble (Trisha) and Karen Trumble (Matthew Gordon). Also surviving are 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren, all whom she loved with her whole heart. She was never happier than when she was holding a baby.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Ephratah Reformed Church, 140 County Highway 140, St. Johnsville, New York. Interment will follow in Ephratah Rural Cemetery.

Calling hours are at the church, Saturday morning, one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Karen loved her church, worshipping and singing her favorites, “In the Garden” and “Just a Closer Walk with Thee.” In place of flowers, donations may be made to the Ephratah Reformed Church, c/o 418 Saltsman Road, St. Johnsville, New York 13452.
