MOHAWK/HERKIMER: Joyce M. Moyer, age 93, a former Mohawk resident, passed away Monday, July 4, 2011 at the Folts Home, Herkimer.
She was born July 2, 1918 in Little Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Lyman and Gladys Louisa (Rice) Mosher. She was a graduate of Herkimer High School, the class of 1936. Her marriage to Army Captain Charles F. Moyer took place on May 2, 1942 at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Baltimore, MD. Mr. Moyer passed away January 1978.
Joyce was formerly employed as a library clerk for the Ilion Library. She had attended St. Augustine's Episcopal Church, Ilion and was a former member of the DAR.
Survivors include a grandson, Charles Tyree Moyer of Tennessee and a great grandson, Taylor Moyer. She is also survived by two sisters, Jeanette Dury and husband Walter and Hilda Mosher all of Herkimer; a brother-in-law Ralph Wollaber of Herkimer; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two sons, Eric and Brian Moyer; a brother, Charles Mosher; sisters, Eleanor Wollaber and Eunice Dodge.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Harry J. Enea of the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington Street, Herkimer, NY 13350, (315) 866-1011. There are no public calling hours. A memorial graveside service at Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer, will take on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 11:00 AM.
