HERKIMER – Joyce M. Congdon, age 93, a lifelong Herkimer area resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 17, 2021, at the MVHS St. Luke’s Campus.
Born on August 18, 1928, Joyce was the daughter of the late Albert H. and Gladys (McLoughlin) Murphy. She was raised and educated locally, graduating from Mohawk High School.
Joyce was first married to John E. Dicob, a union from which they were blessed with four daughters. After John’s passing, Joyce shared in a second marriage with Orlyn “Stubby” Congdon, whom also passed away.
For many years, Joyce worked as a Sales Clerk at Duofold in Mohawk.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and Bill Garrette of Arizona, Cynthia and Terry Dukatz of California and Lori and Jeff Ashley of Florida; her brother, John Murphy of Tennessee; her sister, Ruth Taurisano of Utica; as well as five grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents, several siblings and by her beloved daughter, Colleen Dicob.
Joyce’s family will honor and celebrate her life in a private gathering. There will be no formal funeral services.
